Notes re Complex tag

Here are a few points:

  • Look at this sentence. Is it a subject verb object sentence? "This song has been plagued with a range of leaks; in late 2010, the entire demo of the song leaked online, with music critics comparing the song to Perry's previous single "California Gurls" (2010). " No. It is two sentences joined with a semi-colon. It uses the passive. Vocabulary like "plagued with leaks" is not simple.
  • "prompting speculation " not simple
  • "the lead (seventh overall) single" not even sure what this means. First single from this album. Seventh single of KP's career, I guess. Unclear. Not written simply.
  • Other passive forms and complex vocabulary or jargon throughout. For a native speaker of English who likes music, terms like debut, demo, and lyrics seem simple, but actually require the reader to have an advanced vocabulary.

Thats a start. Thanks, Gotanda (talk) 22:18, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
